This tutorial walks through the process of unpublishing a book you no longer wish readers to be able to access, as well as deleting chapters or entire books.
Unpublishing a Book
Books cannot be deleted while they are published. To unpublish a book:
- Click the edit button on the book to open the editor.
- Click the Publication icon in the top right.
- Select “unpublish” from the publication status screen.
- Confirm the unpublish action.
When a book is unpublished, it remains on your account where it can be edited and revised. Anyone who purchased access to the book would regain access as soon as it is republished.
Unpublishing Individual Chapters
Individual chapters can be unpublished by opening up those chapters in the editor. Click the three dots at the beginning of the chapter and select “Unpublish chapter.” This lets you take down a chapter while leaving the rest of the book live.
Note: Chapters can be revised individually and updated without having to unpublish.
Deleting Chapters or Books
After unpublishing, you can delete content:
- Individual chapters can be deleted from within the chapter editor using the three-dot menu.
- An entire book can be deleted from the Settings page by scrolling to the “Delete book” section. The delete button will be blue (active) only if the book is unpublished.
Either way, you must first enter your password as confirmation, then click Delete to complete the process.
