Author Community features are optional tools designed to help grow your readership.
How Author Community Features Work
Two features are currently available:
Recommendations: When readers finish a story or visit their bookshelf, they see recommended works from other authors. If they purchase within 365 days after clicking a recommendation, it counts as a referral.
Affiliate Links: Logged-in readers can copy an affiliate link from a book’s menu and share it on review blogs or social media. Purchases within 365 days of clicking the link count as referrals.
Using Author Community Features
To participate, enable the feature in your Author Dashboard settings. Your stories will appear in recommendations on other authors’ pages. To earn referral fees, you must have a Stripe account connected and the feature enabled at the time of purchase.
Fee Structure
Author Community referrals incur a 15% fee plus Stripe’s payment processing charges:
- 5% goes to the referrer (via affiliate link or recommendation)
- 10% goes to Laterpress
If Laterpress recommends your book or a referring user lacks proper setup, the full 10% fee goes to Laterpress. Subscription referral fees apply to initial payments and renewals.
Opting Out
Author Community features are completely optional, and always will be. Disable them anytime — no fees apply to direct sales.
